Two Lights, for One Room

Dear friend,

You didn't come to us for a light. You came to us for a room.

That's what struck me. You weren't picking out a chandelier to hang and be done. You were thinking about the whole space — your 21-foot ceiling, the main seating area on one side, the sectional lounge on the other — and how the light should belong to the room, not just sit in it. So you asked for something we'd never been asked in quite this way: take this one piece, and reimagine it as two square ones — one for each part of the room. That's the eye of someone who sees the whole, not just the parts.

So we listened to all of it. Not the original as it was, but reimagined: two square pieces, each still 3350mm tall, to fall beautifully from that 21-foot ceiling — one over the main seating area, one over the sectional lounge. And the canopies — not the original rectangular one, but a square canopy, 4 inches by 4, for each. A small detail to some. But you knew exactly how you wanted it to meet your ceiling, and that mattered to you, so it mattered to us.

We drew it all up, to your specifications, and sent you the drawings to confirm. When everything was right, we built them. Then we hung them, lit them, and sent you a video of the finished pieces — so you could see, with your own eyes, before they ever left us. You confirmed. And when they arrived, you were happy.

Here's the part I keep coming back to. Somewhere, in a tall, open living room in America, two of our lights now hang — one over where people gather, one over where they rest. They found their home. And we got to do the thing we most love to do: help a light arrive exactly where it was meant to be, in the hands of someone who knew exactly what she wanted it to become.
