In the spring of 2022, on a work trip to Zhongshan, I saw that mirror for the first time, in a showroom.
It was like a drop of water, caught forever in the instant it splashed. So full of motion — and so still.
Standing before it, a thought rose in me: whoever made this mirror seems to understand the softest place in the human heart. They took the beauty that only exists in our dreams, and made it real.
People who can create something this striking, this beautiful — their hearts, I thought, must hold a great deal of love.
I asked, then and there: may I sell this mirror of yours? For various reasons, it didn't happen. I thought it was only a passing encounter.

Three years later, in 2025, by chance, I walked into Gordon Gu's art museum.
And then — I saw it again. That same mirror.
I was so moved. I asked the staff: this mirror… you designed it? Yes, they told me. It's an art brand under Gordon Gu, called Boking.
After three years, the mirror and I had found each other again. And this time, I finally knew its name — finally knew who that team was, the ones who "understand everyone."
Standing before it, I suddenly understood something. To borrow Krishnamurti's words — this is what real creation is.
It is also, to me, what "quiet luxury" truly means.
It doesn't use many words to describe itself. It doesn't wear its logo, its labels. It simply rests there, quietly, waiting for the one who understands it.
It is like water. Water holds all things — it doesn't fight, doesn't grasp. It simply is.
Because it is so beautiful, it met the same fate we did — copied, one to one, by many. But here's the thing: it remains itself. They can copy its form; they cannot steal its soul. Real creation never fears being copied — because what can be copied is only the shape. The loving soul that first brought it to life — that cannot be reproduced.
This, I think, is the deepest kind of relationship between a person and a thing.
The way you see something — it reveals who you are.
That this mirror moved me, that I couldn't forget it for three years, that I was so stirred when we met again — perhaps it's because the things it holds (stillness, not grasping, keeping its soul though copied, waiting for the one who understands) are exactly what I, in my heart, hope to become.
And what I feel lucky about is this: I became the one who carries this beauty out into the world. I have the honor of representing the work of Gordon Gu and Boking, overseas.
I don't need to sell it loudly. I only want to do as it does — set it here, quietly — and wait for the one who, at a single glance, understands.
