Focus

I've lived a little in my own world since I was a child.

It's left me not quite understanding the way people relate to each other out in the ordinary, worldly circles. Every time I step into that kind of social setting, I feel deeply uncomfortable. If I stay in it too long, I grow confused, and all my strength seems to drain away.

Later, I slowly found a way to steady myself.

I noticed that when I focus, fully, on doing something I love, the feeling is like meditation. My mind grows clear, my thoughts grow sharp, and I feel joyful, and full of strength.

Right now, for instance, I'm writing this note. My fingers move across the keyboard almost on their own. I don't have to think it through, or plan it out. The words simply come, as if they can't help it.

In this moment, I seem to be in a state of free flow.

More and more, I feel that focus is something that gives a person strength.

Like this leopard by Gordon Gu.

It's made from the Boking material. Look at it, gathered, poised, as if the next instant it will spring. It holds the most focused moment of a wild animal, that quiet, and yet immense, strength.

I think I love it because it reminds me of that strength that focus brings. When a person is truly focused, they are, in fact, just like it.
