To Feel, and to Create

These past few days, I've been using some AI tools to help with my work. And it left me with a deep impression.

I found that as long as something can be spelled out in clear rules, as long as you can explain exactly how it's done, AI does it beautifully, quickly and precisely.

It made me think of something.

So many people, in their work, are really just completing the tasks a company hands them. They never think, their minds aren't in the present, they never truly enter into the thing itself. They just follow the steps, and finish, mechanically.

That kind of work is exactly what AI does best. So I think that way of working, following procedures without ever thinking, is truly about to change.

And yet, I don't feel this is a bad thing.

If anything, I feel AI has come to make us human again.

We are the higher beings on this earth. What a person is truly meant to do isn't to repeat and execute, like a machine. What we need is to feel nature, freely and at ease, to feel the beautiful things, and then, from what nature has given us, to create new beauty.

Let the mechanical, repetitive things go to AI. And we, as people, can finally return to the one thing only people can do. To feel, to love, and to create.

This is also why I love this piece by Gordon Gu, the Enchanted Forest.

It's made of glacier crystal. Look at how it takes the things of nature, weathered stone, the grain of wood, delicate little plants, and turns them, little by little, into translucent art.

Looking at it, I think, this is what a person is meant to do. To first grow quiet, to feel a forest, to feel that natural beauty, and then, with a pair of hands and a heart, to create that beauty anew.

AI can't make something like this. Because what it takes isn't rules, but a person who has truly felt, and loved, and created.

I think this is what is most precious about us, as human beings. And it's the very thing I most want to keep doing, and to guard.
