Some projects begin with a drawing. Others begin with a practical need.
This one began much more simply: our client's wife loved the chandelier.
They had found a crystal column chandelier they wanted for their home in Canada, but the standard version wasn't going to work for the space. The chandelier needed to extend almost the entire height of the room: from the ceiling all the way down to the floor.
And they wanted this particular design.
So we began figuring out how to make it work.
The requested dimensions were far beyond those of a typical residential chandelier:
Chandelier Diameter: 2 ft
Overall Height: 21 ft 2 in
Floor Base: 4 ft diameter

Rather than simply suspending the chandelier above the floor, the design called for the crystal column to visually continue all the way down, meeting a custom circular base at floor level.
At this scale, proportion matters enormously. What looks balanced at six or eight feet can feel completely different at twenty-one.
The chandelier therefore had to be made specifically around the dimensions of the space, with the base designed as part of the overall composition rather than as an afterthought.
Once the design and dimensions were established, there was another important consideration.
The chandelier was going to Canada, and the client required the fixture to meet the applicable CSA requirement for his project.
For a chandelier of this scale and level of customization, this wasn't something we wanted to treat as a checkbox.
We coordinated with the certification professionals involved in the project and worked through the required process specifically for this custom fixture.
It took additional time, coordination, and approximately $2,500 in certification-related costs, separate from the chandelier itself.
For us, this became another part of making the project possible.
Different homes, projects, and markets can come with very different requirements. When a client brings one to us, our job is not simply to say whether a chandelier can be made. It is to understand what it will actually take to deliver it responsibly.
The custom chandelier itself was approximately $6,500.
With the additional certification cost, the project came to approximately $9,000.
It would have been understandable for the client to reconsider.
But he didn't.
His wife loved the chandelier, and this was the piece they wanted for their home.
That part of the story stayed with us.
Luxury isn't always about choosing the most expensive option. Sometimes it is simply knowing what belongs in your home, and deciding that you'd rather make the right piece work than settle for something else.
Once everything was confirmed, the chandelier went into production.
A 21-foot crystal fixture requires a very different level of planning from a standard chandelier. Every section had to come together as intended before the piece could begin its journey to Canada.
Eventually, after the design decisions, production, certification process, inspection, packing, and international shipping, the chandelier arrived.
And then came the part we always wait for.
Installation.
Seeing a custom piece inside our workshop is one thing.
Seeing it standing in the home it was actually made for is something entirely different.
The finished chandelier rises more than twenty-one feet through the double-height interior, beginning at the ceiling and descending into its circular base on the floor. What had once existed only as a set of measurements and requirements finally became part of the architecture.
Later, the client's designer shared the completed space on Instagram and tagged LYFAIRS.
For us, that was a particularly rewarding moment.
Not simply because the chandelier looked beautiful, but because a project involving unusual dimensions, international shipping, project-specific requirements, and months of coordination had reached the point that matters most:
It was home.
And the client loved it.
Not every space can be solved with a standard-size fixture.
Sometimes the chandelier needs to be longer. Wider. A different finish. A different crystal color. Sometimes the architecture calls for an entirely different proportion or mounting solution. And sometimes a project brings requirements that don't appear on a product page at all.
That is where our bespoke work begins.
If you have found a lighting design you love but need it adapted to your space, send us your inspiration, dimensions, drawings, or project requirements.
We'll take a look and tell you what may be possible.
