The Travels of a Chair

To be honest, I don't really know the founder of Gordon Gu. We've barely exchanged a few words.

But the things their team does fill me, from a distance, with awe.

They did something I find wonderfully cool. A group of lovely people took a chair, and travelled with it, across the seas.

They carried it to Turkey. To Dubai. To Italy. Each country, unfamiliar; each day, full of the unknown. And still, they kept going, with a chair, from one country to the next.

Just picturing it, I think how cool that is.

Their pursuit of beauty, that artist's spirit of theirs, made me feel as though my own life had begun to flow again.

It lit up something inside me I had almost forgotten. A sea full of stars.

I realized then that this sea had been inside me all along. I'd simply grown busy, and forgotten it. And it was they who helped me see it again.

I feel very lucky to carry their work, and to share it with people all over the world.

Because to me, this chair stopped being just a chair a long time ago.

It is a way of living. A way of reaching out, with beauty, with curiosity, and with courage, to embrace the world, and the unknown.

It tells me this: beauty can travel. It can be carried by a group of passionate people, over mountains and seas, to the other side of the world, and into a stranger's home.

And what I can do is carry this journey a little further, into more eyes, into more lives.

The journey is still going. And I'm glad to be one stretch of the road.
