Can You Customize It, and Certify It, for a Commercial Project?
Dear Lyfairs,
I'm a commercial interior designer, working on a large public airport project. We're interested in customizing one of your chandeliers, we'd need to change the finish, the size, and the shape, so it can run through our space the way we've designed it. I'm attaching our rendering. Could you let us know if this is achievable through your customization service, and what you'd need in order to give us a quote and lead time?

We love receiving a message like this. A designer has a vision, a piece running through a large public space, reimagined in a new finish, a new size, a new shape, and the question is whether we can bring it to life. For a project like yours, the answer is yes. This is exactly the kind of work we do.
Two things, in particular, we'd like you to know.
First, we offer full customization on our fixtures. The finish, the dimensions, the shape of the metal pendants, with or without spotlights, all of it can be tailored to your design. A single chandelier reimagined to travel through a retail space, a lobby, or a concourse is precisely the sort of bespoke work we love most, and we'll work from your rendering to make it truly yours.
Second, and just as important for a commercial or public space, we can provide UL certification. We understand that a project in an airport, a hotel, a mall, or any public building must meet strict safety and code requirements, and that a beautiful fixture is of no use if it cannot pass inspection. This is where many suppliers cannot follow. We can. Tell us the certifications your project requires, and we'll confirm what we can meet.
To prepare a quote and lead time for you, it helps us to have a few things.
1. The dimensions of the installation space. The length, width, and height of the area the piece will travel through, so we can plan the scale and the run precisely.
2. Your rendering or design drawings. Exactly as you've described, they show us your intent better than words ever could.
3. Your preferred finish, size, and shape. The metal pendant color, the dimensions, and the form you have in mind, and whether you'd like spotlights. Our designer has prepared a set of drawings based on your space blueprint and customization requirements, which we would like you to review and confirm.
4. The certifications and codes your project requires. UL, or any local safety and building requirements, so we can confirm compliance from the very start.
With that, we'll come back to you with a considered proposal, a precise quote, and a lead time.
And so you can plan your project well, here is how our timeline generally runs.
Production for a custom piece takes approximately one month. Our quote includes complimentary sea shipping, with an estimated transit of around thirty business days. So we'd recommend reserving at least two months for production and shipping together, to keep everything smooth. For a large or complex commercial piece, we'll confirm the exact timeline with our craftsmen once we've seen the full scope.
