I've grown up.
I've realized the dreams I once had. I have my own business, and I have the money to buy the things I love.
And yet, I've found that I deeply envy children.
I envy that state they live in, free and easy, fully in the present.
When I play with children, I feel that state again. Age forgotten, free of the labels of convention, experience, and status, simply doing the thing I can't help wanting to do.
In that moment, I feel my life flowing. It's as if, in every moment, I am creating.
I've slowly come to feel that to be able to quietly be yourself is, in itself, a kind of freedom. When my heart is truly free, I am, in every moment, creating. And that seems to be when wisdom arises, too. Joy comes, naturally, on its own.
And this freedom has nothing to do with age, nothing to do with social standing, nothing to do with where you're from, and nothing to do with how much money you have.
When the heart is truly free, joy comes on its own.
That joy isn't given by anyone, isn't bought. It flows, naturally, from within.
When we are our whole selves, we are so full of joy.
For me, this joy that flows naturally from within is what I treasure most now. With it, everything else somehow matters a little less.
This is also why I love that horse by Gordon Gu, the Triumphant Horse.
It's made from glacier crystal, capturing the spirit of a horse through a faceted, sculptural form. What it holds is that triumphant, forward-moving energy. A horse has always been a symbol of freedom, of strength, of moving ever onward. Light falls on it differently from every angle, as if that wild, untamed life force were always in motion.
I love it because it reminds me that no matter our age, whether we are poor or rich, we shouldn't let ourselves be bound by convention, or by the experiences of the past.
In every moment, we are being reborn. Every moment is a fresh start. In every moment, we are creating a new world.
I hope Lyfairs' pieces can keep such a person company. Not because they are expensive, but because they are quiet, and true, and can live alongside a free heart.
